Alphonso Davies named Canada’s top football player for the third time: 

Bayern Munich superstar and national men’s squad anchor Alphonso Davies was called Canada football player of the year on Wednesday.

Davies, who delivered five goals and eight assists for Canada this year, achieved the honour thrice in four seasons.

The 21-year-old from Edmonton featured in 13 international games for Canada in 2021. He slashed a highlight-reel goal in October versus Panama in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifying game in Toronto.

Davies also succeeded in a third consecutive Bundesliga championship as well as the FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern Munich.

Edmonton’s native Alponso Davies named Canada footballer of the year

Jonathan David ended second in the poll by Canadian trainers and media fellows. Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan and Stephen Eustaquio were also observed.

Canada Soccer will call an honour co-winner from the women’s national squad on Friday.

Furthermore Wednesday, the federation stated that deputy general secretary Joe Guest will resign at the ending of the month.

He spent 16 years in senior supervision roles within the association.
