The Alberta Jobs Now Program permits employers to register for a grant that funds 25 per cent of a current employee’s earnings for a 52-week duration up to a maximum of $25,000 per employee.
“Together with the other $400 million that we are investing in jobs training and skills development, this represents by far the largest investment in Alberta history by government in job training and skills development,” stated Kenney at Hudsons Pub in downtown Calgary at a media event, this is also taking a role in the programme. The scheme has assisted in bringing fresh new talent inexpensively says General Manager Brent Nalder.
“This has given Hudsons the ability to more easily hire inexperienced staff and give them the proper training needed to execute great guest experience,” he stated.
The first stage of the programme which was launched in May, got more than 2700 applications accepted declared Kenney. The approvals caused 14,000 new jobs.
“We had to close the application intake because, in fact, demand was so overwhelming,” he declared.
“We wanted to make sure that there’s enough money in the pot for the planned two-year rollout of this program.”
On Nov. 10, the acceptance of applications for the second phase of the programme will begin. They will be inspected on a first-come, first-served basis till all funds are assigned for the intake, the province announced.
The year 2022 will come up with the third application intake stage.
