Alberta’s loose crowd limitations will rise Omicron danger, doctors alert

Doctors warn of Omicron variant’s danger: 

Alberta’s determination to allow unvaccinated adults to attend vacation gatherings will permit the Omicron variant to spread rapidly, state doctors on the front bars of the COVID-19 problem.

“It’s a big risk, and I think that it’s potentially setting us up for a rapid rise in cases over the holidays like we saw about a year ago,” Edmonton crisis physician Dr Shazma Mithani stated Wednesday. Source – cbc.ca

Before Wednesday, the region declared differences to gathering limitations. Unvaccinated adults are now permitted to attend personal indoor gatherings of up to 10 adults.

Under the prior law, unvaccinated individuals could not attend any personal indoor meetings. The latest commands raise a limitation that limited indoor gatherings to individuals from two households.

The region also declared it will boost quick testing while improving the availability of vaccine booster shots. Premier Jason Kenney supported the loose rules as a “reasonable, very modest change.”  Source – cbc.ca

He stated the boosted availability of quick testing kits will permit more families to safely gather over the vacations, and that Alberta’s vaccination rate suggests it is well-positioned to bear the variant.

As of Wednesday, 85 per cent of Albertans aged 12 and elder have acquired at least two doses of vaccine. That correlates to 72.3 per cent of the general inhabitants.
