Alta, an ex-teacher from Cold Lake, faces numerous charges connected to voyeurism and child pornography after allegedly filming students utilizing the school’s change rooms.
Ten people have been identified as possible victims in happenings that date back to 2013.
James Neil Morrison, an ex-teacher at Assumption Junior / Senior High School, was arrested on April 20 with voyeurism, making child pornography, robbery of electronic data, and possession of child pornography, according to a press release from Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).
The 34-year-old was first charged one year back, in April 2021, after it was alleged he had secretly videoed a student changing their clothes inside a school change room.
A report given Wednesday by the Lakeland Catholic School Division said Morrison was instantly fired from the school, barred from entering the school’s premises, and told not to contact staff or students.

The report added that he has not returned to the school since and is no longer employed by the unit.
ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) division took over the probe from local RCMP last November.
ALERT said the unit found other offenses after analyzing Morrison’s computer and electronic devices. ICE identified ten student victims as having been discreetly filmed in offenses dating back to 2013.
“Indeed, this is a traumatic incident for the students, their families, and the school. These offenses dated back several years and came as a surprise to many victims,” said Sgt. Kerry Shima, an operative with the ICE unit.
The investigation continues, and anyone with information is requested to contact Cold Lake RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
