Wildfire around Nordegg, Alta. provokes evacuation order for areas of Clearwater County

Some areas of Clearwater County in central Alberta are under evacuation due to a wildfire northwest of Nordegg.

Clearwater County gave an evacuation order for Snow Creek Provincial Recreation Area, Dry Haven Provincial Recreation Area, Centre for Outdoor Education, Fish Lake Provincial Recreation Area, Frontier Lodge, and Goldeye Lake Provincial Recreation Area.

Citizens and tourists in the impacted sites are requested to leave instantly.

Some areas of Clearwater County in central Alberta are under evacuation due to a wildfire northwest of Nordegg

Evacuees with vacation trailers or campers who require somewhere to stay overnight can migrate to the North Saskatchewan River Park in Rocky Mountain House at 394024 Range Road 7-3A.

A two-hour evacuation warning has also been given for the hamlet of Nordegg (North and South subdivisions), meaning citizens and tourists in that place are requested to be ready to leave within two hours of being informed.

According to a warning issued by Alberta Emergency Alert at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, the evacuation order was provoked by a wildfire labeled RWF038, presently listed as out of control and almost 200 hectares in size.
