Death tally rises to nine of Astroworld’s music eve:
A 22-year-old college senior who was critically injured at the Astroworlds music event in Houston the previous week has died, the family’s advocate stated Thursday, making her the 9th individual to die in a mob rush after fans forced toward the stage during staging by headliner Travis Scott.
Bharti Shahani, who was ready to graduate from Texas A&M University in the spring, died on the night of Wednesday, attorney James Lassiter stated during a press conference.
“For the first time in her life she just wanted to have fun, and that was taken from her,” stated Namrata Shahani, Bharti’s sister, who attended the concert too. Source – cbc.ca
She said her sister’s final words to her were, “Are you OK?”
All the concert attendees who died following last Friday’s concert were between the age group of 14 and 27, underscoring how the devastation unfolded a mostly younger mob.
A nine-year-old boy who was injured too at the sold-out event of 50,000 individuals remained in a medically prompt coma, by the statement of his family.
Concert attendees have explained the packed mob surging dangerously even before Scott appeared on the stage, and declared they saw individuals fall while the rapper performed.
Scott’s lawyers have stated the rapper did not know about the deaths and hurtings till the show ended.
On Thursday, Scott’s spokespersons stated he is “distraught by the condition,” and has been attempting to connect with the affected families to share sympathy and help them.
Dozens of other individuals were injured too.
